SYNOPSIS: The effective performance of the workers at our site is intricately tied to their ability to work safely and understanding the hazards associated with their jobs and developing a positive disposition in carrying out their varied job function including the effective handling of various tools and equipment. This training is intended to provide basic understanding of the site hazards and safe work system.

  • Choosing the right equipment (fall arrest blocks, retsraint systems, lifelines, lanyards

Common Health Risks in Construction

  • Common health risks in the construction sector, their prevention and early identification (respiratory, skin, noise)
  • The underlaying causes of occupational desease
  • Practical Occupational Hygiene updates and a ‘Hands On’ session
  • The direct and hidden costs of occupational desease
  • Approaches to identifying and dealing with stress and mental health issues in the construction sector

PPE Essentials

  • Risk assessment, the hierarchy of controls to achieving effective control
  • The range of PPE and how it works
  • Correct selection, use and maintenance of PPE
  • Types, capabilities and limitations of PPE covering:
  • Respiratory Protective Equipment (RPE)
  • Protective clothing, including gloves and boots
